On my 83' I replaced the SR switch and now have power to it. The motor spins about 1/8 turn and stops either forward or back. I pulled the motor and gear out and ran 12 volts to it. Jumped around like a frog, but spun fine. Is it possible the motor has lost it's torgue or is there something further down down the road I need to check. Thanks.

There could be a misalignment or perhaps something in the sliding mechanism is jammed.
Also, while the sunroof motor is out, check the sunroof transmission for free movement as well.

Once it is straight the motor an transmission will probably work without issue.

I removed the motor and gearbox, but cannot move the SR. It dips down at the rear about a 1/2 inch and is snug up front. Should I remove all the trim around the SR to gain some access ? Thanks.

You sum Wally's contributions to the 928 community so well. By the way, where is Wally? He was a regular participant of the old board, wasn't he? I was hoping to get his thoughts on my head gasket project. I figured he'd know the torque procedure I was searching for off the top of his head actually.

You post the topic/question for him, and I will let him know it is here, perhaps we can entice him over.
