4 post lift?

I think I am ready to buy a 4 post lift.
I want one that:
1. Can be rolled around.
2. Will fit under a 10’ ceiling

I have started reviewing several, and would appreciate any knowledge, pros or cons, of the many brands out there.

The rolling around thing is the expensive part Stan.

One of the coolest ones that I have used is the Rotary Lift

Its Pricy though because it is the best.

This bring another note: cheap is dangerous. end of story.

anything under $2500 (canadian) 2 post, is cheap

You would always need to store a wider car over a narrower car if the rotary lift were used.

I want portable for a number of reasons, not the least that I don't intend to live here forever.

There are a number to pick from in the 4 post world that fall under $2500 US.

Ya You have to spend more on a 2 post to get a good one.
The 4 post like you have listed all seem to be fairly good quality.
I would pick the eagle as a first choice, but with out the specs on some of them it is hard to compair.

As much as the back yard buddy seemed like it would be a cheap hoist, it also seams like a good pick.

By portable I thought you ment that you could roll it out to the drive way and lift a car 7 feet in the air. That is why I sent you the rotary lift link.
I have used them to lift a trackor trailer truck and you just roll the post up to each wheel and lift the vehical with its own tires.

A key use I expect will be in the winter when cars are in storage, so one car will sit over another for months.

Ya this would be a hard choice.
All of the ones that you posted look fairly safe which should be the main concern.

The harbor one looks good to.
Still If I knew that I wanted to by a quality unit, I would go with a name brand.

It looks like that buddy one has wheels on it and you may be able to stack cars with it.

I was pointed to this one by an engineer who said this was his second choice.

Seems like it could work well for me, I am a Costco member and could pick it up locally to take off the car trailer at my own pace.

What I looked at when I read this ad was


Spring-loaded safety locks on each column (IMO these can fail compared to the gravity latch locks)

Single safety lock release handle (leaver and button[2 hand] are the standard)

Self-lubricating bearings and cable sleeves (not a plus, grease zerks are a must)

There are a lot of bad points in the review, I wouldn't get it, But

This still may be a good hoist for you Stan, I am just picking it apart for you.

I appreciate you picking it apart. If I can spend a few hundred more and not have any concerns that would be fine with me.

It seems like a good hoist for the money and it is a 1000lbs stronger.

Yes its ALI/ETL Certified and they are going for the OSHA
The Direct-Lift Pro-Park 8 Plus looks like all you would need
Its all up to you now that you have a few good ones to pick from.

Size of garage/hight, weight it will handle and safty, cost last but not least.

I want a couple of single arm parking lifts so bad I can spit! I set my garage up for three of them easily (I put in 3 220V plugs for them) but could do more than that even, but I think one would be a good start at least! I'd put the race car up on it since it hardly ever goes out these days!
