dash covers

Looking to start on the interior...anyone familiar with the quality of this dash cover product?

If you are going to take the dash out (the only way to REALLY do it right) think you would be better off getting a vinyl "kit" from Robert Budd and just doing it the right way. Nothing looks better than a nice stitched leather (or quality vinyl, like Bob has) dash in a 928!!! Of course nothing looks worse than that leather peeling up all over the place too!

I agree with James. You can see my efforts with a Robert Budd kit in my car profile.

If your interior is Blue I have one...Ha....But I doubt an 83 will fit an 87...not sure. Anyway, I tried to put it on once with out taking the Dash out....did not fit well or as easily as they would have you believe. I tried a dry fit first so there is no adhesive on it, but that was enough for me to say, this is not the way to go, even temporarily. Would be a beastly mess to try and do it with the dash in place. It is still sitting in my Garage unused. It is well made but now I have a Robert Budd Leather Dash myself!....it was worth waiting and saving and finding someone who was willing to pull the dash to fit it.

If you try to fit a Coverlay, you might be prepared to do some trimming to get it in, especially if you do not pull the dash, and if you are pulling the dash,,,then go with James and Martin's suggestions and get at least a new vinyl covering from Robert.

However, if it is particularly in bad shape, I would consider one of those rug-type ones that come in pieces that you can just lay over the top for now. Almost like the ones they use in some race cars due to the sun and heat generated in those cars. Sorry I do not have lead on one of those right now, maybe someone else does though.

Thanks guys; after further review and doing searches on the forum the clear choice would be to have it re-stiched. I have a carpet covering now which is not bad...so I will save the green backs and get it done the right way!

Nope. It's a Racing Black plastic dash and pod cover. Almost guaranteed to make your car go faster and stop quicker!

John, despite many conversations in Witchita and Marble Falls I was informed that the next OCIC is being organised for 2014 in Colorado. Theres not much more I know and dont understand why its not being shared publicly.
